The season for gathering lasts from May till the middle of September, when the first shower of rain puts a close to the gathering for that year.
Frankincense is tapped from the scraggly but hardy trees by slashing the bark, which is called striping, and allowing the exuded resin to bleed out and harden. These hardened resins are called Frankincense tears. It takes about 8–10 years for a tree to be ready to produce resin.
The dried frankincense tears should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
MAKE A RESIN INFUSION:
Crush the resin in a Mortar and Pestle
Add 2-4 oz of Resin to 12-24 oz to Olive Oil or another Carrier Oil
Let the mixture sit at 100°F for 72 hours (We use an Instant Pot)
Strain and Enjoy
Boswellia carterii is one of the resin with the highest amount of boswellic acid in it. The resin can be infused in water to make a tonic for digestive issues such as bloating, cramping and gas. This resin water can also be used as a face wash for cleansing according to one of my distillers. Boswellic acid has ben shown to fight inflammatory diseases like asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, atopic dermatitis, Crohn’s disease and a variety of cancers.

The Healing Power of Frankincense Carterii Resin

Frankincense Carterii is one of the few types of frankincense that contains boswellic acids—powerful resin compounds that have been shown in scientific studies to possess anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. These findings support its traditional use in managing inflammation, respiratory ailments, joint and muscle pain, and digestive disorders.

Beyond its internal therapeutic potential, Frankincense Carterii also enhances skin elasticity, making it a prized component in natural skincare formulations. It’s important to note that boswellic acids are found in the resin, not in the essential oil. While the essential oil offers aromatic and topical benefits, it does not deliver the full spectrum of the resin’s healing properties.

Whole Resin = Full Potential

To access its complete benefits, working with the whole resin is essential. Frankincense Carterii resin can be used as a base in crafting therapeutic creams, salves, balms, and medicated oils—ideal for both wellness and skincare applications.

Ethically Sourced from Somaliland

Harvested through Fair Trade practices in the arid landscapes of Somaliland, our Boswellia carterii resin tears are a premium selection for frankincense connoisseurs. With its sweet, citrusy, and ethereal aroma, Frankincense Carterii is the most cherished species in spiritual, aromatic, and cosmetic traditions.

At The Organic For You, we are proud to offer two distinct varieties of Frankincense Carterii, each sourced from different Harvesters. This listing features our wild-crafted selection, chosen for its purity and vibrant scent profile. We invite you to try both and share your feedback—it will help shape our long-term offerings.

Packaging Note

  • Packaged by weight, not volume

  • Resin tears range in size from pea to thumbnail, naturally unsorted

  • Vacuum-sealed for freshness and protection

A Note on Our Ounce Sizing
Please be aware that our "ounces" are not 25 grams like many other sellers. A standard ounce is 28.3 grams, but we go a step further — our ounces are 30 grams.
In fact, our team is instructed to always add more, never less, to each bag of resin. You may find that your package weighs slightly more than listed — and that’s intentional.
We believe in generosity and transparency, and we’re confident you’ll see the difference when you weigh your purchase.

How to Use
