Ayurvedic dry-brushing, called garshana (pronounced gar-shun-uh), promotes lymphatic cleansing and is a powerful way to support the removal of ama (cellular waste products) from the body. Garshana is traditionally done using raw silk or linen gloves, though many prefer to use a natural bristle body brush.
Dry skin brushing does work to exfoliate your skin. Especially in drier climates or in the winter, skin gets robbed of the moisture that keeps it soft to the touch.
NOTE: Test a small area of skin before using on whole body
Let the brush soak in warm water and then clean with a mild hand soap several times before use.
We recommend dry brushing for a few minutes before a morning shower. Brush in circular motions; start at your feet and move over the entire body. Always brush toward your heart with light pressure. Gradually increase pressure as you build your daily routine.
TAKING CARE OF YOUR DRY BRUSH:
To prolong the life of your brush it is recommended that you store your dry brush in a place free from water and dampness and clean it on a regular basis.
Keep in mind that, when cleaning your dry brush, the wooden base and handle should not come into contact with water. This is because water weakens the wood and may cause it to crack and rot.
Allergen Alert - Please be advised that our Ayurveda Dry Skin Brush is made with boar's hair, use with caution if you experience irritation to wool products.
