How To {The Oil Cleansing Method}

The Basics of Cleansing with Oil

The Oil Cleansing Method (OCM) is good for both women and men. It offers effective deep skin cleansing, skin health enhancement, and an opportunity for de-stressing and relaxation.

The basic concept of this skin care and cleansing method is that the oil used to massage your skin will dissolve the oil that has hardened with impurities and found itself stuck in your pores. Just a  small pea size of an oil formula patted over damp skin will provide the necessary lubrication to keep your skin from over-compensating in oil production.

How To {The Oil Cleansing Method}

Cleansing with oil and a warm cloth gives your skin a deep clean while gently exfoliating.

Best done in the evening, before bed

WHAY YOU WILL NEED FOR OIL CLEANSING METHOD:

First and foremost, this is typically done in the evening, prior to bed. There should be no need for deep cleansing in the morning if you're waking up with skin cleansed the night before. In the morning, a quick wipe with a warm washcloth should suffice. The act of removing the oil with the cloth also buffs off dead skin cells. We don't want to over cleanse our skin as this will serve only to irritate and cause more oil production. The objective of using this cleansing method is to deep clean while balancing our skins oil production at the same time.

Step 1: Pour a full dropper of  oil  or half a teaspoon-sized amount of balm into the palm of your hand and spread evenly over your face and neck. Gently massage the oil into your face for 2-5 minutes to remove makeup, dirt and other impurities.

Step 2: Run a clean, soft wash facial cloth under STEAMY warm water. The steam will open your pores, allowing the oil to be easily removed. You want it to be warm enough to steam the face and open up the pores, but not too hot that it will burn the skin. Cover your face with the washcloth and hold it there until it cools. You will feel your pores softening, opening, dissolving and releasing any stuck impurities.

Step 3: Gently wipe away the oil (do not scrub) and rinse the wash cloth well in steamy warm water.

Step 4: Repeat steps 2 & 3 a few more times until your face feels cleansed and radiant.

Step 5: Now, time for the second cleanse. Use a water-based cleanser, this can be a wash-off formula (ideal for normal or spot-prone skin) or milky cleanser (a good choice if your skin is dry). The second cleanse ensures that every last scrap of makeup, dirt and pollution are whisked away. Pay particular attention to the delicate eye area, the T-zone and around the nose.

Step 6: Apply a Toner

Toners restore skin’s pH level, provide hydration and treat acne symptoms. Use a toner after cleansing to remove any remaining impurities and residue.

Step 7: Apply a Serum or Moisturizer

Serums are essentially shots of extremely concentrated nutrients, hydrators, or antioxidants that really amp up your skin health as soon as you apply them. Serums are better at night.

Moisturizer are better at day. A moisturizer also helps trap in all the products underneath it to make the ingredients even more effective,

If you have dry skin, perform this ritual daily and will help you restore your radiance and regulate your natural oils.

If you have oily/acne skin this is gentle yet highly effective method that cleanse and will work to unclog congested pores, leaving your skin with a smoother and brighter complexion.
