Shampoo Bar FAQ how-to-use

FAQS

How do you use a shampoo bar?

There are several techniques you can try for using a shampoo bar. It is important to find the method that works best for your hair needs. We recommend the first method for those transitioning to a natural shampoo for the first time.

Method 1: Lathering First

Step 1: Wet hair thoroughly.
Step 2: Wet shampoo bar and work up a lather either with your hands, a sponge, or a shower pouf.
Step 3: Work the lather into hair, starting at the scalp and working your way down.
Step 4: Rinse hair very, very well. Many problems with waxy, oily feeling hair are due to improper rinsing.
Step 5: Repeat as needed.

Method 2: Direct Wash

Step 1: Wet hair thoroughly.
Step 2: Rub shampoo bar from scalp to the ends of hair in a combing motion.
Step 3: Gently massage hair and scalp, adding water as you go to work up a good lather. Work from the top of the hair to the bottom, avoiding piling hair to prevent tangles. Instead, use the fingers like a comb.
Step 4: Rinse hair very, very well.
Step 5: Repeat as needed.

Method 3: Long Hair

Step 1: Tie hair in a low, loose ponytail.
Step 2: Wet hair thoroughly.
Step 3: Rub wet shampoo bar across the scalp from front to back.
Step 4: Gently massage scalp in a combing motion to work up a good lather.
Step 5: Undo ponytail and rinse the hair very, very well, allowing the lather to run down the length of the hair.
Step 6: After showering, you can squeeze hair to remove excess water. Do not rub with a towel. Use a wide-toothed comb and comb hair from the bottom up to remove tangles. Dry and style as usual.
